TWO Be Read | 2022 Reading Plans & Challenges

My 2021 reading plans were a complete disasters, but that will not stop me from making more yearly reading plans! Plus, I found a cute way of planning this year out, so how could I not! I’ve got a couple of general plans and then specific books I want to read!

General Goal #1

My GoodReads goal will stay low. This is the one thing that will stay flexible because I don’t want that to be bogging me down with anxiety. I’m gonna set it to 50 books at the start, but I’m also 100% fine changing my goal if needs must.

General Goal #2

I’m also keeping my one adult, young adult, middle grade, and nonfiction book a month goal. It was overall pretty doable and it keeps my reading diverse.

General Goal #3

Something I definitely need to work on is prioritizing books I already own, meaning both ebooks and physical. I love my library and a large part of my reading has focused on audiobooks, but I also want to start reading the books I’ve paid money for. My shelves aren’t getting any bigger!

General Goal #4

I want to read bigger books! I still love novellas but I have so many 400+ page books that I want to read but I’m too intimidated, so I need to get a little extra push to read them. How will I know I’ve comepleted this task? Well, GoodReads gives you your average page rating so I’m gonna say byt the end of 2022 I want an avg of 300 pages

Year-long Reading Challenges

I’ve never before participated in a year long reading challenge, but two are really calling to me for 2022.

The first and the one I’m most excited for is Pondathon! It’s run by one of the most amazing book blogs, The Quiet Pond, and I could not be more excited for it’s return! The first Pondathon was in early 2020 and I really enjoyed it, you can see my TBR for that one here and my wrap-up here. The information for the second Pondathon will be revealed in the first week of January, so I can’t wait!

The second reading challenge is the Buzzword Readathon, which is organized by Kayla of booksandlala on YouTube. All the information for it can be found here, but basically every month has a word and that month you have to find a book with that word in the title and read it. I have a vague TBR in mind, but nothing set in stone, so you’ll see in my monthly TBRs which books I’m reading for what word.

2022 TBR

Because it’s 2022, which is a lot of twos, I’ve decided to focus on duologies I’ve started and duologies that are on my TBR. I want to finish 6 duologies and start (and finish) 6 new others. In total that’s 24 books if I decided I need to reread all the duologies I’ve already started. Some of them I definitely need a refresh, others not so much.

Duologies I Want to Finish
  • Mask of Shadows & Ruin of Stars by Linsey Miller (YA fantasy)
  • Crier’s War & Iron Heart by Nina Varela (YA fantasy)
  • The Never Tilting World & The Ever Cruel Kingdom by Rin Chupeco (YA fantasy)
  • A Song of Wraiths and Ruin & A Psalm of Storms and Silence by Roseanne A. Brown (YA fantasy)
  • Goddess in the Machine & Devil in the Device by Lora Beth Johnson (YA sci-fi)
  • Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda & Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli (YA contemporary)
Duologies I Want to Start
  • All the Stars and Teeth & All the Tides of Faith by Adalyn Grace (YA fantasy)
  • Sorcerer to the Crown & The True Queen by Zen Cho (adult fantasy)
  • An Absolutely Remarkable Thing & A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor by Hank Green (adult sci-fi)
  • The Dragon Warrior & The Fallen Hero by Katie Zhao (mg fantasy)
  • Empire of Sand & Realm of Ash by Tasha Suri (adult fantasy)
  • Raybearer & Redemptor by Jordan Ifueko (YA fantasy)

If I end up abandoning a series, I have plenty of other options for duologies to make sure I’m reading and knocking off series on my TBR!

Have you read any of these books? What are your 2022 reading plans? Let me know in the comments below!
