Top Ten Tuesdays | Books That Should Be Adapted

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme brought to you by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was previously hosted at The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic was submitted by Julia @ pagesforthoughts.

This week I’m talking Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies (submitted by Nushu @ Not A Prima Donna Girl)

Ok, so originally the prompt was specifically Netflix adaptations (probably because of the trend with authors making Netflix screens for their shows), but I’m not about monopolies. I’m also gonna give my ideas of what I imagine for them.

A Blade So Black by L.L. McKinney

Pull a Mary Poppins and make the parts in Atlanta live action and the Wonderland parts animated. My worry is that if you adapt it traditionally in live action, the lighting will be too dark to see anything a la a Marvel movie.

The Never Tilting World by Rin Chupeco

Definitely needs to be a series to cover the different perspectives, which are all necessary in my opinion. I feel like live action would be a good look, but animation could make the “gates” look amazing.

Out of the Blue by Sophie Cameron

When I first read this book, my immediate thought was it reminded me of that classic kid’s movie staple of “ragtag group of friends must help person/creature from another world get home,” so this could easily be made into a movie.

Mangos and Mistletoe by Adriana Herrera

This is perfect for providing me the gay Hallmark movies I deserve.

Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis

If they can make Sense8 a thing, they can make this a movie.

The Fever King by Victoria Lee

My only plan for this is to sob the way through. I think movie would suit it more than a series but again, I’d just be crying the whole time so that’s all I’m confident about.

Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire

A mini series where each book is its own hour+ long episode. I think that would suit the series well.

Get A Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

The rom com I need in my life! Also if they’re making movies like 365 Days, then they can at least make romance films with HEALTHY relationships.

Ciel by Sophie Labelle

I NEED a kid’s movie that handles being nonbinary well. Live action would do this one well, and could probably allow it to expand on the side character’s plot lines more as well.

On A Sunbeam by Tillie Walden

ANIMATED!! That’s all I need from this. Series or movie, this just needs to be animated in Tillie Walden’s art style.
